Course Description

This crashcourse is designed for those who have prior knowledge of, or have learnt the basics of how to play the Indian violin and are eager to get started with lessons in this portal . This course facilitates, strengthens and broadens the fundamental skills of playing the Indian violin (Right- and Left-hand techniques and postures).

This is a prerequisite for student signing up for ABHYASA - Thritheeya and onwards and have not taken ABHYASA -Prathama & Dwitheeya.

Even though I started learning Violin sometime back, this course really helped me to identify what I wasn’t doing right and correct those easily. For the first time (I never had a hope I could), I started using my pinky fingers to play high notes, by continuously practicing the small exercises in this course. This course has helped me to fine tune and sharpen my skills with respect to bowing and fingering techniques which has helped me to play the violin more fluently than before. The content of the course is fine tuned specifically for Beginners and the melodies created help to explore the many facets of playing the violin. I find the content very interesting for practice because each exercise is a melody which is simple yet weaved around interesting Swara gucchas and hence makes practice sessions very interesting.   • Who should enroll for this Prerequisite?

    This is a compulsory prerequisite for all courses other than Abhyasa-Prathama or Abhyasa-Dwitheeya.
    Abhyasa-Prathama is for beginners who have no prior knowledge of Indian Music. For others who have been learning or have learnt violin earlier will start with this course before moving onto Abhyasa - Thritheeya , Chocolate Melodies or Varnams.

  • How will this be interactive?

    Our online learning methodology is unique and interaction and feedback play a key role in your learning. There will be regular assignments (video submissions) for which you will receive feedback. There will also be regular live zoom meeting interactions with Vidwan Kumaresh R (Fiddling Monk)

  • I am interested, but do not have a violin and not sure what to purchase ?

    Please look up the "Violin- FAQ" section in FAQ page. There is a detailed section on what violin to buy and where to procure the same

  • What are the two course prices listed? Why?

    We have two options or rates to purchase the courses.
    Option 1: One Time Payment plan - This opens all the lessons immediately.
    Option 2: Monthly Payment plan - In this option the course lessons open up corresponding to the monthly payment. These options are just to give flexibility of payment options to the student. The material and guidance received are the same in both plans.

  • Post completion of course, how long will l have access to videos for review and practice?

    Whether you chose the one time payment option or instalment option, post full payment, you will have complete access to all the lessons and will continue to have post course completion as well.
